Questions

Can ROGER apply for services on my behalf?

No. In most cases, users are responsible for contacting organizations and completing applications directly with those organizations. However, if you need additional support navigating resources, understanding application requirements, or determining where to start, you may complete the Veteran Intake Form, and someone from the ROGER team will be in touch. Depending on the situation, Backpacks For Life may be able to provide guidance, resource navigation assistance, or help bridge gaps when appropriate. Users should first contact the organization directly for help with that organization’s own intake or application process whenever possible.

Can ROGER check my application status?

No. ROGER does not have access to application statuses, approvals, denials, waitlists, case files, or internal records maintained by organizations. Please contact the organization directly for updates. For example, if a user applied for housing assistance through a listed provider, only that provider can give the status of the application.

Can ROGER tell me if I qualify for a program?

ROGER can help users identify organizations that may match their needs, location, or situation, but each organization sets its own eligibility requirements. Users should review the listing and contact the organization directly to confirm qualification. For example, ROGER may show that a program serves veterans in a certain county, but the provider determines final eligibility.

Can ROGER tell me which organization is best for me?

ROGER can help users search for organizations that may match their needs, but it cannot guarantee which organization is best, whether a user will qualify, or what the outcome will be. Users should contact organizations directly and compare available options. For example, for mental health support, ROGER may show several providers. The user should contact them to confirm fit, availability, eligibility, insurance, and next steps.

What if I need help immediately?

If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 immediately. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line. If you are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness in New Jersey, NJ 211 can help connect residents with housing and community resources through phone, chat, text, and web support. ROGER is not an emergency response service. Crisis and emergency situations need immediate professional help.

Is my Veteran Intake Form information private?

Information submitted through the Veteran Intake Form is handled with care by the ROGER team. Personal information should not be shared with an outside organization unless the user gives permission or sharing is necessary and appropriate to help connect the user to support. For example, if ROGER identifies a provider that may help a user, the ROGER team will ask permission before sharing personal details with that provider when appropriate.

Who is this section for?

This section is for veteran service organizations, case managers, social workers, peer specialists, service providers, nonprofits, government agencies, and anyone helping veterans navigate resources. For example, county VSO can use this section to understand how to search and print listings, while a nonprofit can use it to learn how to claim and update its organization profile.

How can veteran service organizations and case managers use ROGER?

Veteran service organizations (VSOs) and case managers can use ROGER as a resource navigation tool. They can search by service category, location, county, branch of service, discharge status, demographics, income eligibility, and virtual or physical availability. They can also open organization profiles, review eligibility information, print listings, and share direct contact information with the veteran or family they are assisting. ROGER can save time for professionals who help multiple veterans and can make referrals more accurate and easier to explain. For example, a VSO helping an older veteran can search by county and category, open a listing, print the page, and hand the veteran a copy with contact information.

Is there a cost for organizations to be listed on ROGER?

No. ROGER is completely free for both users and organizations. Organizations can create an account to claim and manage their profile, allowing them to update information such as programs and services, eligibility requirements, contact information, points of contact, website and social media links, applications, and intake forms. Organizations may also contact the ROGER team at any time for assistance with updating their listing. ROGER does not charge listing fees, subscription fees, advertising fees, or paid placement fees. This helps maintain the integrity of the platform and ensures organizations are listed based on relevance and user needs, not financial influence. Free listings help protect the integrity of the platform and make it easier for accurate veteran-serving resources to be included. For example, an organization can claim its listing and update a new phone number, eligibility requirement, or other section without paying ROGER.
