Move, Connect, Create! Get ready to move and express yourself with some awesome dance workshops designed specifically for the Veteran community!
As part of the NJHCS Suicide Prevention Awareness Month Resilience Arts Trail in September, Exit12 Dance Company is offering three workshops led by a U.S. Marine Iraq War Veteran Román Baca.
Workshops will be held on Thursday 9/3, Thursday 9/17, and Monday 9/21 from 5:30pm-6:45pm at the East Orange VA, and you can sign up for free here for as many as you want.
Veterans will explore new ways of expressing themselves through movement and connect with others who understand the military experience. No dance background is required — just an openness to try something new. Modifications will be offered so everyone can participate fully.
Co-founded in 2007 by U.S. Marine Iraq War Veteran Román Baca and professional ballerina Lisa Fitzgerald, Exit12 began as a way for its founders to process their personal military experiences through choreography. Today, Exit12 is a contemporary dance company dedicated to creating meaningful works that spark conversations about global differences and the lasting impacts of violence and conflict on individuals, families, and communities. Through movement workshops, performances, and presentations, Exit12 supports healing within the Veteran and military-connected community, educates civilians, and advocates for Veteran issues.
