Rebuilding Together Long Island

• You must be a homeowner living in your home on Long Island.
• Your household gross income cannot exceed the limits described in the next section.
• Your household assets (excluding your home and auto) cannot exceed $100,000.
  (RTLI cannot make repairs on rentals, mobile homes, multi-family homes, coops, or condominium exteriors.)

Eligibility is based on maximum gross household income and the number of people living in the home.

1 person – $57,750

2 person – $66,000

3 person – $74,250

4 person – $82,450

5 person – $89,050

(Households that include a veteran can add $10,000 to the income limit.)

Total assets cannot exceed $100,000 (excluding home and auto)

To review your application, we must receive a completed application and copies of all required documents.
Applications cannot be reviewed if documents are missing.
All information is kept confidential.

Please black out (redact) sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or full bank account numbers before submitting documents.

Required Documents Checklist

• Federal tax return – Pages 1–2 of your most recent return, or a written explanation if you did not file
• Property tax receipt – Current property tax bill or receipt showing your name and address
• Current mortgage statement
• Proof of income or benefits – Recent award letters for Social Security, SSI, SSD, SNAP, veterans, or disability benefits
• Pay stubs (if employed) – Your two most recent pay stubs
• Bank statements – All pages of your official bank statements from the last two months
  (Online transaction summaries are not sufficient.)
• Asset statements – Statements showing balances for IRAs, certificates of deposit, stocks, bonds, annuities, or similar assets
• Divorce papers (if applicable) – Documents showing maintenance (alimony) or child support amounts
• Trust or life estate documents (if applicable) – A complete, signed copy of the trust or life estate, including all attachments

• Accessibility modifications such as ramps, grab bars, or handrails
• Minor carpentry or safety-related repairs
• Basic plumbing or electrical improvements for safety
• Converting existing tub to walk-in shower
• Drywall repairs
• Weatherproofing improvements, like sealing doors and windows
• Smoke and carbon monoxide detector installation

Work that we do NOT do includes emergency repairs, mold remediation, tree work, snow removal, cleanouts, fencing, paving, and concrete
