Hiring Our Heroes works with the U.S. Chamber’s vast network of state and local chambers and strategic partners from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to bridge the civilian-military divide within the business community.

Our goal is to ensure veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses are able to utilize our resources to connect with employers no matter where they are in the world.

About Fellowships

The programs provide networking, professional training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. Participating host companies harness the power of internships to find, evaluate, and hire the best military talent.

INTERNSHIPS
HOH internship programs range from six to twelve weeks and connect service members, military spouses and military caregivers with companies that provide experiential opportunities with the goal of hiring. Programs include:

  • Corporate Fellowship Program: HOH’s CFP can help launch your civilian career in the industry best suited to your skillset and experience level.
    • This innovative program provides transitioning service members with professional training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. The professional development offered through the program prepares candidates for a smooth transition into meaningful civilian careers. Participating corporations benefit by gaining access to the best and brightest transitioning service members, while also developing a more comprehensive understanding of the veteran job market.
    • Program schedule: The fellowship features a 12-week syllabus and runs three times a year at select military installations and in host cities around the country. Fellows spend four days per week with their host company and one day in professional development ‘huddles’.
  • Military Spouse Fellowship Program: HOH’s MSFP can help jump-start your career in the industry best suited to your skillset and experience level.
    • Overview: This cutting-edge initiative provides military spouses with professional training, networking, and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. The professional development and direct connection to local employers offered through the program enable military spouses to quickly build their networks and gain localized job experience.
    • Apply for a specific cohort or any time in between. Applications accepted throughout the year with new opportunities available each month. Resumes of available candidates will be released to host companies on a monthly basis or upon request to allow for maximum flexibility.
    • The fellowship features a 6-week syllabus and is offered in a growing number of host cities around the country. Fellows spend four days per week with their host company and one day in professional development ‘huddles’.
  • Caregiver Fellowship Program: HOH’s fellowship programs can help military caregivers enter or re-enter the workforce in a role ideally suited to your skill set and experience level.
    • Program overview: This initiative provides caregivers of wounded warriors with professional training, networking, and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. The professional development and direct connection to local employers offered through the program enable caregivers to quickly build or re-build their networks and gain localized job experience.
    • Apply for a specific cohort or any time in between. Applications accepted throughout the year with new opportunities available each month. Resumes of available candidates will be released to host companies on a monthly basis or upon request to allow for maximum flexibility.

  • Matching with a host company: Fellowship candidates are carefully matched with participating companies based on the specific skills of the candidate and the preferences of both parties. Once matched with a host company, candidates undergo exclusive on-the-job training at their host company, gaining firsthand experience in the private sector. This real-world experience is augmented by weekly educational sessions for the cohort, held in a classroom setting.

Interactive Events Focused on Hiring: HOH’s hiring events connect you with businesses of all sizes who are ready to hire. These events take place on military installations around the world and in communities throughout the U.S. as well as online.
