About Bringing Veterans Home
BVH Process
The Path to Housing
Bringing Veterans Home (BVH) creates a clear path to stable housing for veterans experiencing homelessness through a coordinated network of services and support.
Finding Veterans in Need
Veterans enter the BVH system through multiple channels. Some connect through existing service providers like VA or DMAVA, while others are referred by community partners. Veterans can also reach out directly through self-referral, or our street outreach teams actively engage with those experiencing homelessness.
Coordinated Assessment
Once connected, veterans are added to our Statewide By-Name-List – a centralized system that ensures no one falls through the cracks. Regional coordinators regularly review this list, assessing each veteran’s unique situation and prioritizing assistance based on their specific needs and circumstances.
Supporting the Transition
Throughout the process, Housing Navigation services provide crucial support – helping veterans search for suitable housing, work with landlords, and handle the paperwork needed to secure their new home. The journey concludes when veterans achieve stable, permanent housing through one of our housing programs, with ongoing support to ensure their success.
