About Abilities Inc. at The Viscardi Center

Since our inception in 1952, Abilities, Inc. at The Viscardi Center has been an innovative and respected leader in services for people with disabilities. Our founder, Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr., was disability advisor to eight U.S. presidents and became one of the world’s leading advocates for people with disabilities. When he founded Abilities, Inc., his first employees were mainly disabled World War II veterans who were denied employment. We continue Dr. Viscardi’s vision of eliminating the barriers that people with disabilities face every day by providing the tools they need to live productive, independent lives. Nationally and regionally recognized for our innovative vocational training programs, we prepare adolescents, veterans, and adults with all types of disabilities (physical, learning, developmental and hidden) and levels of experience for entry or re-entry into the workforce and assist them in securing employment so they can enjoy full community participation and economic self-sufficiency.

Our employment services include a comprehensive array of career assessments, work-readiness/vocational programs, job placement and follow-up programs and services based on individual needs and vocational interests. We work to facilitate employment and independence for hundreds of people with disabilities each year.
