The Hoover Institution’s Bochnowski Family Veteran Fellowship Program (VFP) is a year-long, nonresidential initiative designed to empower post-9/11 U.S. military veterans to drive meaningful policy change. Launched in 2021, the program selects ten veterans annually to develop and implement actionable solutions to pressing public policy challenges, aligning with Hoover’s research priorities.
Participants engage in project-based work, receiving mentorship from Hoover and Stanford scholars, access to institutional resources, and a $10,000 stipend to support their capstone projects . These projects have addressed issues such as rural healthcare delivery, affordable housing, and mental health programs for service members and veterans.
Eligible applicants are post-9/11 veterans who have served on active duty within the past 25 years across various branches of the U.S. military, including the National Guard and Space Force . The program fosters a network of veteran leaders committed to advancing freedom and democratic governance through policy innovation.
Applications for the upcoming cohort are due by July 31, 2025. For more information or to apply, visit the Hoover Institution’s Veteran Fellowship Program page.
