On Jan. 4, 2025, the VETS (Veterans Expedited TSA Screening) Safe Travel Act was signed into law, which allows veterans enrolled in VA healthcare who have a service‑connected disability of permanent blindness or require the use of a VA‑issued wheelchair or prosthetic limb to receive TSA PreCheck enrollment at no cost. TSA PreCheck allows travelers to experience smarter, faster airport security in dedicated lanes when they travel.
The VA has automatically uploaded the TSA PreCheck Application Fee Waiver Letter to eligible veterans’ VA.gov account: they can be viewed under Benefit letters and documents section. The letter includes a PDF waiver to download for a new TSA PreCheck enrollment or the membership renewal. After that, veterans can enroll or renew their membership for free, with future required renewals also provided at no cost.
Further instructions are available on this TSA website.
